Introduction
We are a trade union based in Nepal Bank Limited, a semi-government owned commercial bank in Nepal, operating since 28 July , 2013 ( 13/04/2070 B.S.). It is a nonprofit organization established under Trade Union Act, 2049 of Nepal.
Our contact office is located at Newroad, Kathmandu, within the periphery of central office of Nepal Bank Limited. Basically, our operational scope remains within Nepal Bank Limited and its offices around the nation.
Historical background
With inclusion as its main foundation, this union was formed on the 13th of Shrawan 2070 in order to fulfill and to ensure the rights and interests of the employees working in Nepal Bank Limited. This union was born out of struggle and had to face many ups and downs to reach today’s situation. Because of the immense love, respect and support of the justice-loving employees of Nepal Bank Limited, we have been able to achieve success in maintaining our existence by facing every situation. We cannot forget the fact that even in very difficult circumstances, the sacrifice and penance of our founding friends was sacrificial.
This union formed with Mr. Prakash Lal Joshi as the founding president was registered in the labor office on 2070/07/07 B.S., but due to the obstruction and opposition of other trade unions, it was declined to be registered by labor office through the letter referenced with 875/070/071 dated 2070/08/28 B.S. Against the decision of the labor office, a case was filed in the labor office by the chairman Mr. Prakash Lal Joshi dated 03/01/071 B.S.. In this way, the tireless efforts and hard work of other officials like Mr. Ravinath Shrestha, Mrs. Sarita Amatya, Mr. Gopalkrishna Dangol and others will remain unforgettable and guiding value for us. Also, we will always remember the sacrificial contribution of our friends who have been committed to this union since its inception even in difficult situations. In this way, after a long litigation process, we were conferred with trade union registration certificate with registration no. 3387. In this way, all the employees got justice from the labor court for the protection of their rights and interests and the development of the trade union.
After the registration of the union, we have renewed this union again on 17th of Shravan 2074 due to the tireless efforts and hard work of the officers and members of the working committee which was reconstituted at different times. Even after that, we had to work tirelessly to maintain the credit of the union. We are again in the process of renewal to keep the historical values of the union intact.
Objectives
- To protect and promote the services, safety and facilities of all the employees working in the bank.
- Giving necessary advice and suggestions to make the bank management effective in a timely manner while supporting the sustainable development of the bank and taking the initiative and discouraging them from doing things that are against the development and interests of the bank.
- To unite and organize all the righteous and loyal employees working in the bank who are devoted to professional rights and interests.
- Accommodating the purely professional interests of employees of different ideologies and classes, fulfilling the objectives mentioned in point 1.
- Keeping the demands of the employees as the highest priority, conduct collective bargaining on behalf of the employees with the bank management.
- By using the rights provided by the existing Labor Act and the Trade Union Act, conduct pressure actions as necessary for the service conditions and safety of all employees working in the bank.
- Maintaining a reasonable and equal relationship with the management while fulfilling the spirit of the trade union.
- To maintain mutual unity, understanding and coordination among the employees working in the bank and try to make them dutiful and disciplined. Taking initiative to bring unethical actions in the bank under the scope of legal action.
- Carrying out commercial and social activities by imbibing the spirit of humanitarian service.
